He who has seen 1000 phases of the moon ( sahasra Chandrakala darshan ) is one of the six entitities that Lord Krishna says “I bowdown in respect to “.The other five entities that Lord Krishna considers equally respectable are person are a person who feeds hungry daily, one who performs Agnihotra  right from young age , one who observes fast on prescribed days of  month, a woman who is Pativrata, and one who has mastered the  Vedas  and Upanishadand follows them strictly

thanks for your in puts. it is just the interpretation  chandra kala darshan. The pournami or full moon comes after 30 days i.e. after waxing and waning of moon phases we call it  a cycle of moon phases.  The no of days as per hindu calender varies not fixed as 30 days. As per  english calender one year consists of 365 days so 5 days are left in a year after having no.of  full chandra kala darshan  cycles which is as good as as seeing one full moon . So as per this in one year, you can see 96 full moon with this calculation 1000 sahasra chanra kala darshan comes to 80 years 4 months  So sadabhishekam is performed after completion of 80 years and 4 months means on 91st birthday, on star birthday of the individual. This is what simple calculation i was told by family priest. If I have misinterpreted the signification i may please be corrected.

Well the matter given in my post may be known to south indian knowledgeable persons but others may not be aware of it.

I expected that eye brows will be raised on the caption and might have asked where lord krishna told in gita or having reference in mahabharat. I admit that i was not a competant person to answer that.

I was expecting some more light will be thrown on sadabhishekam which is conducted by childrens and grand children.

To be very frank i was expecting the person an updating that who celebrates sadabhishekam is called  BRAHMASHRI, even in invitation card this title is written before the name. Lord krishna had a great respect for this man, and one should bow before him.

Can I expect some more lights thrown on the subject

It is 1000 New-moons but not thousand phases of moons. Similarly it is sahasra chandra darshan.

This means 1000 months. It means 83 years four months age.

I performed kanakaabhishekam to my mother. She lived upto her 89 years.

We honoured Dr.A.S.Rao, father of ECIL on his attaining 1000 months when I was Zone Chairman of Lions clubs.
