But, social media users are now calling for a boycott of the movie over the past tweets of its writer Kanika Dhillon. 1. INDIAN NAVY SHIPS ON SAIL TO CELEBRATE 75TH INDEPENDENCE DAY IN SIX CONTINENTS: Warships will hoist Tri-colour and perform other ceremonial activities after berthing at San Diego in United States, in Brazil, Muscat, London and Perth.

INS Tarkash which would be at Brazil on August 15, while INS Tharangini will dock at London and INS Sumedha at Perth, revealed Navy officials.

2. ASIA'S 2 BIGGEST MILITARIES ARE BOTH GETTING NEW AIRCRAFT CARRIERS:. China's and India's navies have both received new aircraft carriers in recent weeks. The Chinese carrier Fujian and the Indian flattop Vikrant are both domestically designed and built.

Fujian is China's third aircraft carrier and the first to be totally designed and built domestically. It symbolizes the Chinese military's rapid expansion and is seen as a potential rival to the US Navy's nuclear-powered supercarriers.

Vikrant is also domestically designed and built, and its arrival is a major milestone for India, which is Asia's second largest military power and shares a long and contentious border with China.

3.  The hypersonic version of India’s BrahMos cruise missile, the BrahMos-II, is likely to have the same performance characteristics as Russia’s Tsirkon (Zircon) missile, the CEO of BrahMos Aerospace, Atul Rane, told.

4. The Indo-US joint exercise is known as ‘Yudh Abhyas’ and it will be the 15th edition this year. The joint exercise is being planned from 14 to 31 October, during which Indian and American troops will carry out 'manoeuvres to exploit the full scope' of high-altitude warfare.

1. India and China have witnessed rising tensions at the LAC over the last two years following the stand-off in Ladakh. Meanwhile, tensions have also risen between the US and China over House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan stop Tuesday.

2.  The Union Cabinet has approved India’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution, NDC to be communicated to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). 

The updated NDC seeks to enhance India’s contributions towards the achievement of the strengthening of the global response to the threat of climate change, as agreed under the Paris Agreement.

1.  China summoned the US Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns to protest US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's high-profile visit to Taipei, warning that Washington will "pay a price" for its "mistakes" and asked it to stop using the Taiwan issue to contain China in any form.

2. US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi meets Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen ; China condemns visit & vows to undertake targeted military operations.

3. Chinese missiles are expected to be fired over Taiwan for the first time with People’s Liberation Army (PLA) navy also readying to enter within 12 nautical miles of the self-ruled island, a state media report said on Wednesday, adding the ongoing military drills were “unprecedented”.

The military drills, which started on Tuesday evening, includes “joint blockades, sea assault and land and air combat trainings, involving the use of advanced weapons including J-20 stealth fighter jets and DF-17 hypersonic missiles”, the report said, adding exercises were in response to the Taiwan visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

3. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)  announced the schedule for the upcoming Australia and South Africa tours of India. 

Mohali will host the first T20 International against Australia on September 20 with Nagpur and Hyderabad hosting the second and third respectively on September 23 and 25.The home series against South Africa will begin in Thiruvananthapuram from September 28.

   *Gajendra Moksha* : According to the *Bhāgavata Purāṇa* 

It is one of the famous exploits of the god Vishnu. In this episode, Vishnu came down to earth to protect Gajendra, the elephant, from the clutches of a Crocodile, alternatively known as Makara or Huhu, and with Vishnu's help, Gajendra achieved moksha, or liberation from cycle of birth and death. 

There was once an elephant named Gajendra who lived in a garden called Ṛtumat which was created by Varuna. This garden was located on Mount Trikuta, the "Three-Peaked Mountain." Gajendra ruled over all the other elephants in the herd. One day as usual he went to the lake near by to pick lotus flowers to offer prayer to Lord Vishnu. Suddenly, a crocodile living in the lake attacked Gajendra and caught him by the leg. Gajendra tried for a long time to escape from the crocodile's clutches. All his family members, relatives and friends gathered around to help him, but in vain. The crocodile simply would not let go. When they realised that ‘death’ had come close to Gajendra, they left him alone. He trumpeted in pain and helplessness until he was hoarse. As the struggle was seemingly endless and when he had spent his last drop of energy, Gajendra called to the god Vishnu to save him, holding a lotus up in the air as an offering.

Hearing his devotee's call and prayer, Vishnu rushed to the scene. As Gajendra sighted the god coming, he lifted a lotus with his trunk. Seeing this, Vishnu was pleased and with his Sudharshana Chakra, he decapitated the crocodile. Gajendra prostrated himself before the god. Vishnu informed Gajendra that he, in one of his previous births, had been the celebrated King Indradyumna, a devotee of Vishnu, but due to his disrespect to the great Sage Agastya, he had been cursed to be reborn as an elephant. The prayer made by Gajendra on this occasion became a famous hymn in praise of Vishnu called the Gajendra Stuti .
