Subject: [sadc-medicines-procurement] Rescheduling Consultative Workshops on E-platforms and Regional PPSM Standar

Dear All,

Further to the information I shared with you regarding the upcoming consultative workshops on information and work sharing and common procurement standards for the region, I would like to advise you about the decision to move the meetings to later dates as follows:

  1. Malawi, Mauritius, SA, Swaziland and Zambia from 7 to 9 April 2014
  2. Botswana, Lesotho, Seychelles,  Tanzania and Zimbabwe from 23 to 25 April 2014
  3. DRC, Namibia, Angola and Mozambique from 5 to 7 May 2014

What has necessitated the changes is that the Deputy Executive Secretary of SADC Secretariat is approving work and travel plans on a month to month basis for the time being. As a result, we anticipate this activity to be reviewed for approval in early March, which would be too tight for invitations to reach countries and logistical arrangements for travel to be completed for the first workshop. As a precaution, we are providing for a more reasonable period in which countries can be invited, albeit, still on short notice.

Meanwhile, please review the draft document on regional pharmaceutical procurement standards that I sent you in my previous posting and send me your inputs so we keep advancing.

Best wishes to you all.

Geoffrey Ngwira
