Hello SacUAA!
I have some exciting news on the tool library front! A month ago, I started working with the Sacramento Public Library system and in two weeks we will be taking a proposal to the directors for funding to begin a gardening and landscaping tool library.

This is a big opportunity to engage with people about food and lend people the tools they need to increase their food security at home and in their community. I'm writing today to ask for the support of organizations and individuals that you are a part of or that you think could be of assistance. Help we could use includes the following:

-Writing letters in support of the idea from the Sacramento community and urban ag/health groups (letting us use your logo in our presentation to the board would be excellent!)

-Becoming a partner in this project and helping us solicit donations of volunteer time and/or money to buy contractor grade tools. SPL has been pretty clear that they cannot pay staff at this time. Moving forward, a paid position will be a high priority for our sustainability but we have to go at their pace. Additionally while tool donations are nice, from a liability perspective we have to be very discerning about what tools we stock with.

-Coordinating existing food literacy, educational efforts to create a curriculum that compliments the tool library's work.

Feel free to forward this on or pass my contact info to anyone you think would be valuable to be in contact with. If you have any other ideas, please let me know!

Thanks all!
