SACTWU’s Recycling Wash Plant members to receive a 6% wage increase after dispute

The COSATU-affiliated Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU) has concluded its annual wage negotiations in the Recycling Wash Plant section of the Manufactured Fibres textile sub-sector. The settlement was successfully concluded through a dispute process, after three rounds of failed negotiations.

The dispute was heard on 23 March 2022, and a settlement was reached at Conciliation meeting held on 23 March 2022.

This new collective agreement was concluded under the auspices of the National Textile Bargaining Council (NTBC) with employers represented by the National Textile Manufactured Employer Association (NMFEA).

The settlement involves a two-year wage agreement, backdated with effect from 1 March this year.

In terms of the provisions of this 2-year wage agreement, SACTWU members in this textile sub-sector will receive a wage increase of 6% from 1 March 2022 to 28 February 2023, and another 6% wage increase with effect from 1 March 2023 to 29 February 2024.
