Hi Laura Lee,

I am a grade 11 student in Ms. Capelet's class. I would like to ask
you a couple of questions about working with wood. My first question
is how do you prevent the newly applied paint from leaking into the
other paint on you wood? If this occurs, does it mean I have put too
much water in the paint? My second question is how do you know when
your piece of art is completed? When I painted my own, I wasn't sure
if I had enough substance.

I am very inspired by all of your art work and your style of painting.

Thank you,
Danielle

Hi Danielle,
Thank you for your words. I guess you are trying to get this done by
tomorrow...I can hardly wait to see all the hand journey’s.

The leaking paint can be controlled by only wetting the part of wood
that you want the paint to go on and controlling the amount of water
you use.
If you’re not sure of substance, it could be your light to dark ratio
does not contrast as much as you want, or there doesn’t seem to be the
right balance of colour and you need more brights, or your story has
not taken the amount of time it needed to come out. Look into some of
these areas for resolution, but ultimately the answer resides inside
of you.

I hope I have been of some help, but without seeing it, it’s hard to
tell. Is it possible to take a picture and post it on our facebook
group site so I can look at it?

LauraLee,

Thank you very much for replying to my e-mail.

Unfortunately I do not have a camera with me today, so I am unable to
send you a picture of my work on facebook.
I hope as I am finishing it up I could find out where I could add a
few things to my painting.I will work on my light and dark ratio; I
think it will help.

Thank you again for helping me,
Danielle
