Hi Laura,

My name is Madelyn McCallan and I'm a student in Ms. Caplet's grade 11
class. We just recently were working on art projects with inspiration
to your amazing works of art. I know that when i first began this
project, i spent hours looking at different peices of wood trying to
visualize something of meaning to me. I was wondering if you find tha
same sort of struggles when trying to find a peice of wood.
Or can you see things in every peice?

Thank-you.
Madelyn McCallan

Hi Madelyn,
Well, when I’m looking for a piece of wood, I’m looking for something
of interest, something that either tells me right away, or something
that just grabs me for a reason that maybe, I don’t know then, but I
kind of think I will know soon enough and just by trusting my gut, or
my instinct, or that intuit, I know that as I add more paint, that
images will occur and more will take shape as I go. I don’t know what
will happen, but I just trust it will. Not every piece do I see
something in and there have been times where I use the grains as the
background for some figure I have as the subject.
I really enjoyed Thursday night by the way. Just wanted to say...
Take care and Thank you,
LauraLee
