How I began on wood? came as a subconscious idea based on the mother
of all invention: Necessity. It came as a subconscious idea from long
ago where as a kid, I did a lot of day dreaming and looking at the
furniture in my bedroom and seeing stuff and imagery in it but not
articulating what I was doing consciously. Later on when I was working
in all manner of traditional media and feeling that I needed to take
my work to another level outside of mainstream media, and something
that could be uniquely my own, I remembered a piece of plywood lying
in the basement that I had marvelled looking at; a wild crazy woman
inside: Someone trapped, trying to get out, later becoming “Tree
Spirit” in the Sacred Way Series - 1996. That’s where I took the magic
in me which is my vision and my subconscious together, and married her
in washes of paint, making my childhood daydreams a reality and the
beginnings of woo
