Dave,
By the way, if you like feeding live blackworms to your fish, Lee’s Feed offers 10 ounces for $0.99/ounce. The regular price is something like $1.59 or $1.99/ounce for up to 9 ounces, but those of us who buy the larger quantities get that nice discount. I asked Ryan, the head of Lee’s Feed’s fish department about this, and he said that those of us who buy the larger quantities allow him to get in fresh worms weekly, so that all of us can have healthy, robust worms to feed our fish.
For reference, Lee’s Feed’s fish page is at http://www.leesfeed.net/fishdepartment.htm. I’ve never been to their Lockeford store, but I think only the Shingle Springs Lee’s Feed has a fish department.
BTW, I know that Rich and I have recommended Lee’s Feed as we’re both regular customers, and I suspect that he, like I, was also there very recently. Our recommendations aren’t to dissuade you from finding puffers which may be closer to you, but to let you know of a location which had them a few days ago (do check to make sure they still have the quantity you want; Lee’s Feed doesn’t always have them), and which is also an overall nice resource to us fish folks :-)
Best wishes,
Kirsten
