Ukraine army’s attacks on Russian President’s private residence undermine peace process

Sunday, 4 January 2026:- The South African Communist Party (SACP has been made aware of air attacks on the private residence of the president of the Russian Federation on 28 and 29 December 2025. A total number of 91 drones were used to carry out these attacks.

These attacks towards Russia occur at the height of the ongoing negotiations between Russia and Ukraine relating to the conflict underway. That no casualties were reported is a positive outcome, however it stands to reason that these actions may lead to similar military counter measures in the context of the ongoing Russia Special Military Operation.

These attacks undermine the peace process that has been initiated and position the Zelensky government as violators of the peace process, despite public claims to the contrary. To that end, as the SACP we condemn these Ukraine actions. These actions are not in keeping with the peace process and may undermine progress. We call on the international community to support the resolution of the conflict.

It is evident that the political powers in the European Union continue to play a negative role regarding the peace process in Ukraine, and thus we call on the European Union to respect the peace process. They have the duty to allow Ukraine to determine its future independently and cease any and all efforts to abort the peace process as they do.
