Media invitation to the post-meeting SACP Central Committee press briefing
The South African Communist Party (SACP) Central Committee will hold its first Plenary for 2025 from Friday to Sunday, 4–6 April 2025. This crucial three-day Plenary will receive various reports on the work of the SACP since the previous Central Committee Plenary and the Fifth Special National Congress – both held in the last quarter of 2024.
The SACP invites the media to cover the post-meeting press briefing where the SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila will lead the Party’s National Office Bearers to communicate the key outcomes of the Central Committee Plenary. The press briefing is scheduled to take place as follows.
Date: Sunday, 6 April 2025.
Time: 13h30
Venue: COSATU House, Corner Jorissen and Simmonds Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
Mapaila will present a political report to the Central Committee Plenary on the first day. This will include an analysis of the South African, African continental and global situation in the era of a resurgent right-wing, conservative and supremacist tendency from the Western hemisphere.
The political and organisational reports will assess the economic, social and political challenges facing the working class, including the national budget, and the state of Alliance relations. This will include a detailed report on the recent bilateral meeting between the SACP and the ANC.
The Central Committee will also receive reports on and discuss the interactions between the SACP and the Independent Electoral Commission on the renewal of the SACP status as a registered political party.
