Thursday, 2 April 2026:- Today, the South African Communist Party (SACP) as led by our General Secretary, Cde Solly Mapaila, held a bilateral meeting with the United African Transformation (UAT) as led by its President, Dr Bantu Wanda Mahlatsi, at the headquarters of the Party in Braamfontein.
The SACP and UAT discussed matters of common interests and set out principles for a relationship of mutual cooperation on important political issues facing the people of South Africa focusing on the working class in particular.
The bilateral paid attention to the questions of land, including land ownership, land restoration, land development and beneficiation, as well as community development, the fight against commodification of natural resources and other important questions facing the working class and the motive forces of our revolution, among other issues.
Further, the two organisations discussed the upcoming Conference of the Left and the participation of the UAT in the conference and in its steering committee.
UAT thus will join the other parties and organisations that have signed on to be part of the Conference of the Left and will contribute to the discussions. The SACP welcomes the UAT as partner in the Conference of the Left and believes that it will add valuable insights, perspectives and experiences to the agenda of the conference, its outcomes and subsequent programme.
The SACP anticipates a fruitful and sustained cooperation on key matters affecting our people.
