SACP Limpopo's statement of heartfelt condolences on the death of Kgoši Billy Mampuru III
Saturday, 23 January 2021: The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Limpopo Provinces expresses its message of heartfelt condolences to the Mampuru family, relatives, and Bapedi ba Mamone for the great loss encountered, the passing this week of Kgoši Billy Mampuru III. The SACP was the first political formation in South Africa to call for the transformation of our country into a democratic republic with equal rights for all, a stance that remains important. The SACP, however, fully recognises the heroic role played by a number of royal leaders in our land, South Africa, in the struggle against colonisation.
In memory of Kgoši Mampuru III, we should unite as South Africans and work together to deepen and widen democratisation to roll back the legacy of colonial and apartheid conquests, land dispossession, other forms of expropriation, and other social consequences.
The SACP in Limpopo also calls upon every family, person, and community to uphold the COVID-19 preventative regulations, in memory of Kgoši Mampuru III. Clearly, the deadly virus is costing us lives and causing a massive devastation in our society, something that Kgoši Mampuru III would not like to see prevail. We need to do our best to bring the spread of the deadly virus under control and to overcome the pandemic and rebuild our society, supporting sustainable livelihoods.
