Media invitation to the post-meeting SACP Central Committee press briefing
The South African Communist Party (SACP) Central Committee will hold its first Plenary for 2025 from Friday to Sunday, 4 to 6 April 2025.
The SACP invites the media to cover the post-meeting press briefing where General Secretary Mapaila will lead the National Office Bearers to communicate the key outcomes of the Central Committee Plenary. The press briefing is scheduled to take place as follows.
Date: Sunday, 6 April 2025.
Time: 13h30
Venue: COSATU House, corner Jorissen and Simmonds Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg
The crucial three-day SACP Central Committee Plenary will receive various reports on the work of the Party since the Party’s previous Central Committee Plenary and Fifth Special National Congress, both held in the last quarter of 2024.
SACP General Secretary Solly Mapaila will present a political report, including an analysis of the South African, African continental and global situation in the era of a resurgent right-wing, conservative and supremacist tendency. This dangerous imperialist tendency from the Western hemisphere poses serious threats to our hard-won democratic sovereignty, national independence and fundamental right to self-determination, and to global peace. It is actively provoking an all-out war in the Middle East in pursuit of totalitarian imperialist world control and conservation of a slowly but surely diminishing global hegemony underpinned by capitalist system crises.
Both the political and organisational reports will assess the economic, social and political challenges facing the working class, responses and the state of Alliance relations, including a detailed report on the recent bilateral meeting between the SACP and the ANC. These reports will cover the interactions between the SACP and the Independent Electoral Commission on the renewal of the SACP status as a registered political party.
