Everyone here at Festival HQ wishes you the best for 2019. After a lovely break, we are now back in the office and in the process of filling this year's Festival with wonderful music and voices.
As International Competitive and Non-Competitive choirs have already been selected, we are now starting to go through National Applications - and it is time to send yours if you haven't already! You will find below more information on all the ways you can get involved in this year's Festival, competitively or not.

National Schools Competitions
This competition brings school choirs together from all over the country – the National Schools Competitions offer an opportunity to compete in Ireland’s foremost choral festival, while seeing, learning from and mingling with the many talented international choirs that also take part. Read more

A platform for Youth and Adult choirs - the National Open Competitions offer categories including Male, Female & Mixed Voice, Chamber Choir & Ensembles, Youth Choirs and Light, Jazz & Popular Music and Church Music Competition. Read more

Ireland's Choir of the Year
The prestigious Ireland's Choir of the Year competition is an important performance and competitive platform for Irish choirs of national standing and offers them the opportunity of comparison with international standards of choral performance. Read more

2019 Big Sing at the Cathedral – Handel’s Messiah
Continuing the very successful collaboration with St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the Big Sing at the Cathedral is returning on Saturday 16th February for a very special day of rehearsal and performance of some of our history’s most magnificent choral works. For the 2019 edition we have chosen Handel’s Messiah - Part II, in the 260th anniversary of the composer’s death. Come and sing one of the most popular and glorious choral works of all time! Call out for participants for Ireland's first ever 'Sound Choir'
Cork Midsummer Festival in association with Cork International Choral Festival is looking for 15 individuals, emerging and/or amateur singers/vocalists to form Ireland’s first ever Sound Choir! You will be be part of four evening premier performances as part of Cork Midsummer Festival 2019, and participate in a unique Professional Development Programme consisting of 4 workshops in extended vocal techniques, improvisation, movement and creative practice. A unique opportunity not to be missed!

Non-Competitive Participation
If your choir does not wish to enter into competition, you may also consider participating non-competitively. This will give your choir the opportunity to be part of a world renowned festival, sing in a friendly atmosphere and have the opportunity to explore Cork while mingling with other visiting choirs.
Bring your voices to Cork in the Festival’s Choral Trail where national and international choirs bring our city to life with song, with events happening across the city and county and all for free! Read more
Afternoons in the Atrium provides a weekend of energetic and entertaining performances by national and international choirs in the fresh, modern setting of the Clayton Hotel, Lapps Quay, perfect for families and festival goers who want to relax in the hotel’s bright atrium. Read more
