Below a bit of history in our collaboration with the TN Forest Department:
Forging ties with Tamilnadu Forest Department
Over the past 2.5 Years Tamilnadu Forest Department has been actively involved in supporting the environmental conservation efforts of Chennai Trekking Club – Ainthinai’s Green Initiatives across Tamilnadu at various levels. The association of CTC with Tamilnadu Forest Department grew stronger with the support of eminent higher officials who passionately encouraged, participated and granted permissions for our Green Missions.
CTC Ainthinai Volunteers have also actively participated and lend their support for Special Projects of TN Forest Departments like Tree Census, Special Plantations, Restorations, Tree Mapping, etc.
In our journey towards spreading awareness about creating a green city also involving sustainable and organic practices, the below timeline events lists few which were very significant in creating a stronger collaboration with Tamil Nadu Forest Department Officials and the way they lend their support to our team.
§ TN Forest Department continues to provide saplings for all our plantation events starting from 2013 up until this Green Day.
§ Tree guard cutting/removal in ECR and Madambakkam areas - We saved 50+ well grown trees so far by removing the tree guards
§ 250 saplings for Anniversary plantation event in Ayyangarkulam, Kanchipuram and providing necessary permissions for the same.
§ Awareness Presentation in Trek Polama 5 Session for 2013 and also have presented a small stall there.
§ Permission and approval for maintenance of Tiruporur reserved forests.
§ Saplings for the first-of-its-kind plantation in the scientific restoration of Arasankalani lake along with EFI.
§ Saplings support and participation in Kandanchavadi Govt Hr Sec School Plantation.
§ Permission, approval and support for Nanmangalam Reserve Forest walk – An educative and awareness session for us.
§ Permission to conduct First Hill Run of South India in Javadhu and providing 250 saplings in support for Javadhu Run.
§ Manapakkam, Adayar Lake maintenance drive with all higher officials of Forest Department.
§ Transporting the saplings from nurseries to the plantation spots every time.
§ Nanmangalam Reserve Forest Cleanup.
§ Thenneri - Green Day 2014 location permission and continuous support on maintaining the saplings.
§ Thirisulam Hills Tree Plantation Drive in memory of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
