Theosophical Society Gardens, one of the centuries old Green Cover Heritage symbol of Madras which is also known as the "Huddleston Gardens",lies on the south bank of the Adyar River covering 260 acres. The garden has migratory birds, fruit bats, snakes, jackals, wild cats, mongooses, hares, and a variety of spiders. It is also the place for variety species of trees including the rare mahogany and other trees from across the globe. The garden also has a 450-year-old banyan tree, known locally as Adyar Aala Maram, whose aerial roots cover some 60,000 sq m.

Another 250kg of garbage recovered by 40 volunteers from the mouth of the Adyar river. Glass bottles, thermocol packaging, plastics, chapals. Anything we conveniently throw away ends up in our beautiful rivers and oceans. Change has to start from all of us!

Join us on June 18th to restore the entire city coastline to its original beauty - www.chennaitrekkers.org
