Out of the numerous treks I have done within CTC, the one with the SIP kids (Dec 09) had no doubt the biggest emotional impact on me. Spending 1 day with these special children having fun together will change your life forever. Only responsible participants are requested sign up. Let's make a difference in the life of these underprivileged souls.

20 trekkers have decided to make a difference in the life of these underprivileged kids - what about you? The smile on their face will make your heart melt. Some of the HIV infected kids have only some years to live. Stop worrying about your own little problems in life and give them some happy moments while there is still time....

Yes Akila. Anyone who likes kids and behaves responsible (ensures their safety during this small outing) is welcome to join, including first timers. The focus in any social trek in CTC is on safety of the kids and showing them a great time. The trail is very easy. People focused on self-enjoyment should not sign up in social treks.

Adding the group as a few asked me the same question,
Peter.

A few last requests to the group regarding our 16th social trek this Sunday -

We are a bit tight on the transportation. It would be helpful if additionally 2-3 people can join us with their car so we have sufficient space to accommodate all kids and participants.

One of our participants (Sudharsan) was so generous to buy swimming tubes for all 40 orphans to ensure the safety (and more fun) of the kids in the water. We will be able to reuse the same for our future social treks. To protect the kids from the scorching summer heat it would also be great if someone can buy/donate a few (small) caps (any number is appreciated).

If anyone of you knows any orphanages (or other homes of underprivileged) in or around the city who would be interested in either (1) a 1 day outing sponsored by CTC or (2) which we can visit for a few hours during the weekend, then please let me know. Sunita/Thilak are planning to start a series of "CTC social visits" to homes during the weekend (spending time with the kids) starting this month which I believe is a wonderful initiative. Interested participants will be able to join and bring along some small gifts for the kids (blankets, teddy bear, sweets, ....).

Stay tuned for the heart-melting photos of our SIP kids early next week,
Peter.

After a long time we planned a social trek. In fact the very first social trek of 3rd CTC year. We wanna do with our favourite and beloved ones, The SIP kids.

There was a very positive response within 2 days. We got much sponsorship. Great full to Sudashan who sponsored for the 40 swimming tubes which will take care of the safety of the kids not only on this Social trek but even the future ones. The other generous person is Harikumar who sponsored the 100 caps in which 35 was used in this trek and rest of the caps will be distributed on the future Social treks.

All the volunteers gathered at the home by 5.45 am and we started by 6.00 am after a group photo.

Mean while Vinodha accompanied me to get the breakfast and lunch. A special thanks to her. If any anyone wants to know how the sambar tasted, Please feel free to check with her. And the bikers headed to nagala directly.

We halted for a while at Periyapalayam to have hot hot idlies.

Before we take off from here Sudhir bought ice bars for everyone. Few had more than one ice bars. Thanks for that Sudhir. You bought it for us as u said.

We reached foothills of nagala CTC’s motherland. Volunteers collected the food for themselves and the kids after a brief on do’s and don’ts on the trek.

Once we reached the first pool you should seed the brightness on the kid’s faces. The swimming tubes were blown. There started the real fun. All the kids with the swimming tubes jumped into the water at one time.

All the kids were in ecstasy. Unlike the other treks the kids stayed more time in the water independent and carefree.

We had yummy yummy lime rice and tasty curd rice. Again started to swim, played for a while. Kids danced for a while. We started back had a short break at pool near the dam.

Assembled for a wonderful group snap near the temple and at the dam started back.

5 cars with the kids started as it was getting late for the kids for medication. Kids were exhausted after enjoying a wonderful day. I saw a satisfaction on each and every kids face. And satisfaction on the volunteers faces which said that they have achieved something great in their life.

Thank you volunteers to bring a million dollar smile on the every kids face.

Hats Off to you guys.

Special Thanks:

Sudashan: For sponsoring the swimming tubes which will take care of safety of the kids in future treks as well.

Harikumar: For sponsoring the 100 caps. The remaining will be used in the future treks.

Sudhir: for the help and support

Aditya: Coordinating with the Guindy participants

Ansar: buying the snacks and piloting. (Ansar, this time I didn’t miss your name)

Vinodha: helping me picking up the food.

Sheetal: Efficiently managing the accounts

Not last but the least:

All the volunteers, who brought a million dollar smile on the kids face.

Can’t miss to mention a name. Peter, The man behind the mission.
