WESTERN GHATS SERIES - Kemmangundi ON JULY 21-22, 2012

To continue our western ghats series, previously explored the Yana (Miracle shikaras)

Now we are going to explore Kemmangundi

About, the place Beautifully landscaped gardens & panoramic views make this hill station - Chandra Drona Parvatha as Hindu puranas called it

Kalhatti falls

Difficulty level - Moderate to difficult

Distance to be covered - 10-15 km/day
We would be trekking - even in heavy rain (it is mid of Monsoon season)

Enjoy with leeches
Travel - It takes around 8-9 hours from Bangalore, so if you are registering from Chennai need to start in afternoon and return we would be reaching Bangalore on Monday morning, so it will take another half day to reach back
Expenses - 1,500 approx including transport (all expenses will be shared equally)

*WHAT TO CARRY*
1) Good walking shoes & a pair of sandals/cheppels as backup/walk through water
2) Small/compact (NOT large) back-pack to carry water, food and luggage
3) Blanket or sleeping bag
4) LED torch to get around at night
5) One extra set of clothes to sleep dry at night
6) Sun cap and cream (to protect from sun/rain
7) Three set of reusable PET bottles (filled with water)
8) Reusable bowl and spoon for dinner, tea, soup (no disposable ones)
9) Camera, fully charged batteries, memory card – optional
10) Sleeping mat
*EXPENSE* We estimate the shared cost of travel and food to be around Rs 1,500.
