Sharing two pieces of useful information with the group -

(1) It seems that members with non-gmail IDs are unable to un-subscribe from our Google Group. If you want to un-subscribe and face the same problem then please shoot an email to our "organ...@chennaitrekkers.org" and we will help you out.

(2) A number of members are suffering from "email overflow" once they join our Google Group. There are a couple of simple solutions for these -

Change your default membership setting to daily digest or no emails -

If you are only interested to get new trek invitations and not in all other emails then here are a few possibilities -

Periodically check our "treks planned" Google Page -

Periodically check the Google Calendar on our CTC web site -
This is a public Calendar which means you can add it to your own Google Calendar and receive email/SMS reminders whenever a new trek is coming up

Follow the CTC twitter channel where new treks are announced -

Join the CTC community on orkut where new trek invitations are published -

Or become a member of our CTC group on Facebook where the same are announced -

Hi,

I was trying to Unsubscribe my ID from chennai trekking group. But I could not do that as I use my yahoo ID. I would like to see the events happening through the web page as group mail gets my mail filled daily.

Please do the needful to Unsubscribe my mail ID "samud...@yahoo.com"

Regards
Samudhiram

Good suggestion Sumanta.

All CTC emails have the prefix "[Chennai Trekking Club]" in the subject.

Gmail allows you to easily archive/tag/filter these emails so your other personal emails do not get lost in the CTC bulk email.

Replacing our Google Group with a decent online forum would also solve the email flow but we had too many volunteers and too few action on this in the past so I am not gonna talk about this any more ;-)

Peter,

Another idea to deal with the 'email overflow' will be to configure google account settings so that all mails with [chennai trekking club] in subject line are  given a separate label (eg. CTC) and are archived.
