I only suggessted parvathamalai. I already once gone there. It is about 41/2 hrs journey from chennai. It is near vandavasi- polur route. It takes nearly 4 hours to trek up the hills and a small shiva temple is there. The last stretch of the trek will be little tough because we have to climb the cow bar( Kadaparai) rods. That's why it is also called locally as kadaparai hills. it is just a day trek or if we want to stay thiruvannamali is the nearest town to halt for the night. I also attached some photos.

If one or two people step forward to organize (not just “join”) a trek to Parvathamalai this weekend then I will put out an invitation to the group.
Here is my view –
CTC went to this place a few months back
There are two trails from different sides of the mountain which meet each other midway uphill
One is easy to follow without guide – this is more like Tirupathi-style steps
The other one you require a guide to find the starting point (trail is indicated with white arrows) – this is a real forest trail. We took this one
Duration
We did it in two days (we left Chennai around 9am and it took a 5 hour drive so we started around 3pm). We returned the next day by noon and paid a visit to Gingee (on the way). We stayed in the temple on top and even took food there from the priests.
Doing it in one day means that you will need to start very early (at least by 5am if not earlier) + you will return late night.
Overall this is quite a nice trek, especially the last steep part near the top is quite “interesting” + the views from the peak are amazing.
Total climb is around 600m I believe
I would rate the trek difficulty as a “medium+” given the steep climb. Difficulty increases in case of hot climate/bright sun.
