This is a 2-day/1-night moderate trek to the highest peak (1100m) in the central Venkatagiri mountain range, located East of Venkateswara. Participants need to be in good physical shape and have completed at least one moderate trek before either in or outside CTC. Freshers are discouraged from joining due to the challenging terrain (no trail/boulders/rocks), larger distance (40km) and significant climb (900m). Admission is based on the organizers discretion.The trail will be a partial repeat of mission EX-2 explored before by only 2 members. We will be entering the ghats from above Kodur near a scenic dam/big lake, proceed Southeast along a stream inside a shady valley passing many crystal clear pools (blue trail). We will be covering 20km on day 1 with a gradual ascent from200 till 1100m (900m ascent) to reach the peak which will offer mind-boggling views on the entire Venkatagiri range. An awesome viewpoint above a 500m vertical drop will offer stunning views on the Southeast valley below.
On day 2 we have several alternative exit trails (red, green, purple, yellow) which will take us either to the Western or Eastern side of the range along mountain slopes and streams flowing outside the hills gradually descending back to 200m altitude. Similar distance of 20km will need to be covered on the 2nd day.We will be starting from Chennai on Saturday around 3am (5 hour drive to Kodur). Non-Chennai residents can join along the way in Renigunta (7am). We will be returning to Renigunta around 8pm or Chennai around midnight. Approximate trek expense is around 900Rs to share the cost of transportation and food (400Rs for those joining at Renigunta). After screening of fitness and volunteering attitude the candidate participants will be admitted only after making an advance payment of their trek expense.
