Hello hello,
Well, I think our last get together was back in Oct. sometime. It's
been really quiet here on the SacFinerThingsClub.
Some recent news. My wife and I are moving to Orangevale. We bought a
condo out there, and Escrow should be closing on the 27th of this
month. So, we will be a little further out than before.
Other than that, not much else has been going on.
I've watched some cool Anime lately.
SPRIGGAN - Main plot is about the remains of Noah's Ark being
discovered, and there is a special forces unit called Spriggan that
help protect ancient knowledge of man that shouldn't be rediscovered.
The movie is very fast paced and has a lot of action in it, but the
story line could use some more development. The scenes where people
are supposed to be amazed at the size of Noah's Ark, are so dark that
you can't make anything out. I thoroughly liked the concept, and wish
the story were more fully developed. I could see a potential for an
offshoot series of many ancient secrets that are protected by these
Spriggan. 3.5 out of 5 stars.
FAFNER - This is a pretty cool series. The plot is about people that
live on an island, and are suddenly attacked by these golden monsters.
The young people on the island have no idea what is going on, when
their quiet peaceful island suddenly transforms into a war machine. It
turns out that the young are being raised to be pilots for the FAFNER,
which are huge robots that fight the golden monsters. Primarily, the
focus is on the young pilots coming to terms with the battle and
trying to find a way to resolve everything, rather than continue
fighting. Definitely a cool series. Best recurring line, "Are you
there?"! 4 out of 5 stars.
FIST OF THE NORTH STAR - I watched this cult classic, live-action
movie, after watching the anime on youtube. Why this is a cult
classic, I don't think I'll ever know. The original story line is much
better, and some of the plot changes in the live-action, don't really
work well. I think it's very difficult to make a live-version of an
anime for anyone, but especially on a small budget. This gets only a
2.5 out of 5 stars.
That's about it on my end. Hope all is going well with everyone.
Take care.
-Tim
