Okay, Ben has been totally on top of the movie reviews and
recommendations. It's putting the rest of us to shame.

Here is my contribution:

Elfen Lied - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfen_Lied - anime

*warning - graphic violence and nudity*

I just finished watching the entire show, which had 13 episodes. The
very first episode is probably the most bloody and nudity filled
episode of the series, but there are others that come close.

The story centers around a girl that is called a "Diclonius", a person
that has little bone protrusions on their head that look like horns.
She also has "Vectors", which are invisible hands that she can use to
kill people or perform other activities. The main focus of the story
is that this girl has escaped from a research facility and is now
being hunted by the administrators of the facility.

It turns out that the girl has split personalities and she ends up
meeting some people that take her into their home. The plot thickens
as the research facility lets loose a few other "Diclonius" to track
her down, but they can't find her because of her split personality.

I won't let out any more of the story.

The anime is fun to watch. There are some campy scenes that remind me
of some of the current Sat. morning cartoons that have really goofy
moments in them, but for the most part, the series is very serious and
focused around character development and interconnectivity of the lead
characters. There is an innocence factor in the lead characters split
personality that makes her very lovable.

I highly recommend the series, but beware the warning, this is NOT
something to watch with your kids in the room.
