Dear All
Let us keep the momentum going. I am so sure that together we can work to help our alma mater become better which will of course help us also.
Arpit – please include the name of individuals responsible against each point and deadline for completing the task.
I have made the following suggestions in another chain mail
a) Another benefit of knowing which companies we are targeting would be that at the beginning of the year, we can give a list to the faculty showing the companies that we are interested in so that they can pick up case studies accordingly. This way our students will already know in depth things about that company. Trust me, a candidate knowing a lot about a company can be damn attractive to the interviewer.
b) Another thing came in my head – other than the courses that are taught by our professors (which can be boring :P), there are short courses (unofficially) that some alum can take. For eg, GD, interview, resume, time management, boss management, peer management, excel and ppt skills – are things that are EXTREMELY important in the career but which get ignored in the regular curriculum. There are many alumni who are working on these areas professionally. For excel I remember my batchmate – Ashish (forgot his surname) takes courses for corporate houses. We can work on this aspect later.
Lets get down to closing these issues
I would also want the student PR committee ( I forgot what they are called) to start a separate discussion with me. To my eyes – they are EXTREMELY critical for the future of MDI. All our rankings hence our intake and placements are co related.
