Yes, that was definately more then a few years ago (about 25 years ago
when I too was just a pup!). They days when Sweaty Betty (aka. Betty
Vasquez) paraded around in her bathing suit doing a pre-Vanna display of
the Wrestling card and Hay Stack Calhoon ate a whole plate of chicken
from Okie Frejolie.
What are your questions?

That wasn't Betty Vasquez, that was Miki Garcia who went on to be a
playboy playmate of the month.

Ray Stevens, Pepper Gomez, Mondo Guerro, Bob Roop...
I also remember that the Wrestling Girl use to give a star next to
the name of the winning wrestler.
I would pay decent $$ to see some tapes from that era (I wonder if channel
40 still has the master copies, or if they were recycled).
Don
Please do!!! I don't know if I'm going through some sort of weird nostalgic
phase but I'm thinking back on BTW with fond memories.
So, the show WAS filmed at channel 40's studios?
Were these wrestlers well-known outside of Sacramento or no? I know Pepper
Martin went on to act in movies.
Rocky Johnson was a "good guy" right? And didn't he move on to the WWF or
something?
Geez, so many questions....I'd LOVE to get my hands on some of that old BTW
footage.
Kevin
Betty Vasquez.
And Betty Vasquez followed Miki.
I would assume that this happened in the early 70's, when regional
promotions were all that was happening in wrestling. These guys
prob'ly traveled Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, maybe Vegas
and Reno as well. I assume that they were well known in the west.
From the list above I can tell you that Mr. Saito, Angelo Mosca, Pat
Patterson, Don Muraco, and Tony Garea went on to the WWWF, the
precursor to the WWF. In fact, Tonyt Garea and Pat Patterson are still
working with the WWF in the front office. Patterson can be seen on
Monday Night Raw nearly every week as one of Vince McMahon's cronies.
A little more history... Tony Garea won the WWF tag straps with Ric
Martel at one time, as well as Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson.
Current WWF Champ Rocky "The Rock" Maivia is the son of Rocky Johnson,
and a member of the great Samoan wrestling family that includes Afa,
Sika, and Yokozuna as well.
Geeze... The crap that works itself into my head...
