Sacramento State College professor, wife caught on video using racist slurs against neighbors

Shocking video has emerged online of a California college professor
railing at his neighbors along with his apparently drunken wife, who spews
a torrent of racial slurs in a confrontation that started because of the
smell of bacon grease, according to a report.

Tim Ford, an associate professor of economics at Sacramento State
University, and his wife, Crystal Ford, are seen in footage that was first
posted on Facebook on May 1 berating their neighbors, according to the
Sacramento Bee.

The educator’s wife uses several racial slurs and refers to the woman
shooting the video as a “bitch” and gives the couple the finger.

“I’m a professor at Sac State, dude,” Tim Ford says in the video. “I have
a Ph.D. I don’t need to be dealing with s— like this.”

At the end of the video, he tosses his drink at his neighbors’ window.

Mikaela Cobb, the woman who recorded the video, said in the since-deleted
post that the unhinged couple are her upstairs neighbors, with whom they
fight every day, according to the school’s paper, the State Hornet.

“This is what I have to deal with while in quarantine!” Mikaela Cobb
wrote. “Racial slurs are being thrown around, I can’t even (be) at peace
in my own home.”

Cobb said the argument apparently began because Crystal Ford was upset
about the smell of bacon grease.

“Guys she was mad it smelled like bacon grease!? Like I can’t eat!?” Cobb
wrote, adding that the apartment complex has sent the Fords several
notices to no avail.

Cobb’s mother, Chrissy Cobb, said her daughter and her daughter’s
boyfriend also have a video of the Fords pouring beer down their balcony.

The Fords’ attorney, Jonathan Stein, said in a statement to the campus
paper on behalf of the couple: “While we have had ongoing difficulties
with one of our neighbors, there is no situation that warrants the use of
racially charged words and we sincerely apologize for the behavior
exhibited during this confrontation.”

The professor said his wife “recognizes the hurt and anger that she has
caused and regrets it. Today, she is seeking help and has checked herself
into a hospital for alcohol and drug abuse,” the Sacramento Bee reported.

Sac State president Robert Nelsen said he was “deeply offended by the
language” in the clip.

“Racial epithets are repulsive and unacceptable. Personally, I am
incredibly upset by the contents of the video and the harmful impact that
it is having on our campus community,” he told the State Hornet in an
email.

Nelsen added that the altercation is a personnel matter that the
university is investigating.

Nina Watkins, property manager for complex, said: “We do not condone the
behavior as witnessed in the video.”
