For 7.99 a month you do get access to a lot of books. I have read many, many books on KU that I might not have been able to afford buying. In the UK you might get a paperback for 7.99, during a month I read ten books on Kindle Unlimited which if I were to buy as brand new paperbacks each for 7.99 that would work out for 79.90. So Kindle Unlimited does definitely save you a lot of money while also giving you access to a lot of books.
You do get other content like podcasts and Audible Originals, like Heads Will Roll by Kate McKinnon and Emily Lynne narrated by a full cast. They do have some really cool Originals that are preformed by a full cast that are really entertaining and fun.
All three offer a wide range of stories and material for you to read and listen too. They all have such large catalogues that you can kind whatever you want. Sometimes you might struggle to find a specific thing but that could just be because of availability, release dates, contracts, etc. With all three I have found a lot of books that I have wanted to read or listen to.
Scribd I tend to use when I want to binge an audiobook series, which is much easier to do here than with Audible, and just when I want to read an ebook. Sometimes I will use Scribd to jump between audiobook and ebook. I also like the articles and short stories that you can find that are really interesting.
The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler Warner
For all of my children, The Boxcar Children books have been what really cemented their love of listening to audiobooks. These mysteries are wildly popular and have been for decades, for good reason. Scribd currently has over 100 Boxcar Children audiobooks available, almost all of them that you never have to wait for.
Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren
This was the series that hooked on Star (who turned 4 this year) on audiobooks. She listened to this on Scribd at least 20 times in March. I wish Scribd had other Pippi books available on audio but so far no luck.
Gooney Bird Green by Lois Lowry
Written by Lois Lowry of The Giver fame, these short chapter books are about a classroom where a new girl, Gooney Bird Green, joins and always has the most outrageous stories that somehow turn out to be true. Ella listened to nearly the whole series while we were in Europe when she was 4.
Geronimo Stilton by Geronimo Stilton
Ella just mentioned these books in her latest edition of Ella Enjoyed and all my girls have been really into these funny adventures of a timid mouse journalist.
The Doll People by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin
The dolls have been sitting in the dollhouse for nearly a hundred years, with nothing changes. Until one day, a new doll family arrives.
Bud Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis
This Newbery winner takes place in the Great Depression and follows Bud, a ten-year-old boy on his own who is desperate to find his father.
A Long Way from Chicago and A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck
I love these two books about a brother and sister that go to spend the summer and then a full year with their unusual grandmother in the country. (Full review here)
Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
I think of Hatchet as the king of adventure stories. Thirteen-year-old Brian Robeson is on a small plane, going to visit his dad, but when the plane crashes and the pilot is killed, Brian is alone in the wilderness, with nothing but his clothing and a hatchet.
We listen to Scribd a lot. May I add to your list? Mostly picture books since my kids are still little.
Goldilocks and the three bears, Winnie-the-Pooh, Fancy Nancy, The Boo-Boos That Changed the World: A True Story about an Accidental Invention, Maybe Something Beautiful, and We Are Gardeners,

The Fellowship of the Ring is a classic epic novel by English author J. R. R. Tolkien. It tells an epic story about how elves, wizards, dwarves, warriors, and different characters fight desperately to save Middle Earth. The Ring found the young hobbit Frodo Baggins, then he begins his journey to Mount Doom, the only place where the Ring can be destroyed with his eight companions.
This is classic science fiction from more than fifty years ago, an allegory about humanity's exploration of the universe. The story is based in part on various short stories by Clarke, it doesn't have some plot about amazing science and technology or wars with aliens, but it still has power. It's really fascinating, engaging and you will fall in love with this book.
It is a special science fiction that combines science with deep philosophical inquiry and tells a story about Emilio Sandoz, a Jesuit priest who is sent to explore a new planet, his harrowing experience makes him question the existence of God. This is a difficult exploration of faith and fate, wonderfully easy to read.
Unlike normal science fiction, this book focused on people and ideas, not an action or adventure story. Of course, David Colacci's reading is really great. He gives voice to different characters and performs perfectly with good energy, articulation, and breath control.
This book tells a story about a rural English village known as Wall in the 1800s, with a large stone wall separating it from a Faerie land beyond. You could also read some interesting folklore, love stories between a young boy named Tristran Thorn and a pretty girl, Victoria.
Neil Gaiman is also the narrator of this audiobook version, his voice is beautiful and clear, and he narrates his work to keep the readers immersed in it, as he knows best the inflection and attitudes of the characters in the book. If you watched the movie, you will be familiar with the characters and plot, so why not try this audiobook version? You will love this fantasy story.
This was a really interesting book by famous British author Neil Gaiman. It tells an amazing story about our protagonist Mr. Shadow, with a fantastic combination of Americana, mythology, adventure, fantasy, and an exquisite take on religion.

The Gunslinger is the first volume in the Dark Tower series, and one of the greatest literary achievements by American author Stephen King. As a dark-fantasy novel, this story focused on Roland of Gilead: The Last Gunslinger, he is a gunslinger who starts his journey by trekking through a vast desert to chase his adversary, the man in black.
This audiobook version is narrated by George Guidall, he was truly one of the best audiobook narrators in the profession. In these editions, he did an excellent job to make the readers get into the story.
It's a crime story with dark humor, which can make you laugh from beginning to end. Thanks to Rupert Holmes's incredible imagination, he comes a devilish thriller with a killer concept. At McMasters Conservatory, students must perfectly murder someone, this is a place dedicated to the consummate execution of the homicidal arts.
Simon Vance and Neil Patrick Harris do excellent narration, they make you feel like you are watching a movie, and you will love the humor and pacing. This really will be a fun listen and you must enjoy it!
It's a true crime story created by the American writer Michelle McNamara. She died in 2016 when she was still writing it. This book helped police solve the 40-year-old case after her death. If only Michelle had lived to see this book published, she had helped the victims to get justice.
If you listen to this audiobook version, you can hear the real voices of Gillian Flynn and Patton Oswalt. Their narration is absolutely compelling and engrossing, you will enjoy hearing about them and remember the story for a long time.
This is a gripping and unforgettable crime story. Two girls apart twenty-five years, when the past and present start to collide, their fates connect together for two rape cases. It's not only a well-crafted story, but also lets you learn a great deal about our judicial system.
