Linda August –
Director of FLDI – “- Families Giving Back to Solano County!”
"
It is so hard to believe that this festival is 11 years
old,” said Linda August, founder of Festival de la Isla. “The reason we come back and do this
festival is because our family and friends tell us how much they appreciate what
we bring to Solano County. Many
members of the Festival set-up team have been with us for years. They have became part of our extended
family. We encourage you to bring your
friends and family. The unity of
our people is what makes this such a beautiful celebration of Puerto Rican
culture. Come taste the foods, buy
some of the arts & crafts and dance to the music.”
"Although Festival de la Isla is a Puerto Rican
Cultural Event, it’s focused on All Nationalities for Family Unity. By
attending this event on this day we will all become One Strong Family.
Every year we ask every single person, adult,
and children to bring one Can of Food as a donation for those who are in need.
The Father’s House volunteers will be at the front gate collecting your
donations. For more information please see their websites.""
