Frankie Negron Headlines Festival de la Isla!
Vacaville, CA - The 2014 Annual Festival de la Isla will bring some of today’s most exciting and salsa performers to Solano County on Saturday, August 22nd, 2015. The festival site is the historic Pena Adobe Park located at 1 Pena Adobe Road, just outside of Vacaville.
Thousands of Latin music enthusiasts from throughout California annually gather to share their love for the sights, sounds, taste and aromas of Puerto Rican music, dance, food and drink. The event runs from 10:00 am through 7:00 pm. It has become an annual tradition in which the Solano County Puerto Rican community comes together to celebrate culture, family and make new friends. Parking is free. In addition, there is a children’s activity area.
Salsa Music Legend – Frankie Negron!
New Jersey born salsa singer, Frankie Negron has been called "The genre's next definitive voice” by All Music Guide. Since 1997, his distinct blend of traditional salsa with progressive influences such as pop, rock, gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and reggaetón has garnered numerous awards.
Negron has earned many Grammy nominations, Billboard Award nods, and two Premio Lo Nuestro Awards for “Song of the Year”. He’s had several number one singles, four Gold and Platinum albums, and nine Billboard Top 40 Hot Latin Tracks.
Negron’s last album, his ninth overall, 2009’s Independence Day, earned enthusiastic reviews from New York Times’ Jon Pareles, who highlighted it in his seasonal record release roundup. Negrón was selected to perform the album’s Spanglish hit, “Holding On to Love,” on an episode of ABC’s “One Life To Live,” where he also appeared with a speaking role.
The single “Adicto A Tu Piel”, a fan favorite and an industry smash, reached #3 on the Billboard Tropical charts. Negrón debuted his first English single, “Torn”, on Good Day New York. The album was Frankie’s first independent release, and the label Airgo Music negotiated groundbreaking direct distribution deals for it with Walmart and Best Buy.
2015 Entertainment Line-up:
The rest of the music line-up make up a who’s who of the Bay Area and Puerto Rico’s hottest and most charismatic salsa musicians, including, Orquesta Boringuen, Orquesta Saboricua, Pacific Mambo, and DJ Tony O. Latin bands performing here demonstrate music ranging from salsa to merengue.
Early Bird Ticket Special & Additional Festival Information:
Once again, festival attendees have the opportunity to purchase discount tickets in advance. Tickets bought in advance are $22.00. Tickets bought at the door are $27.00. Children's 12 and under are free. On-line ticket orders will cease at 7:00 pm on Friday, August 2st. On the day of the event, tickets will have to be purchased at the front gate. Parking at the event is free.
