Hi All,

I have a  question regarding the kinetic law given for SABIO entry 8766.

Hill type rate law is given. Shouldn't the K (Hill constant ) be raised to the power h (hill coefficient) for the dimensions to match?

Could someone kindly clarify?

Many thanks,
Deepa

Dear Deepa,

K is S_half and not the Hill constant, so it’s a mistake in the entry. The correct formula would be: (Vmax*S^n)/(S_half^n+S^n)

We will correct it ASAP (also the other entries of this publication. Thanks for mentioning it.

Kind regards,

Maja Rey

Hi Deepa,

again we had a closer look at the corresponding publication (PMID: 7961659) and the authors describe in the Material and Methods the usage of the following Hill equation: V=Vmax*S^n/(Km+S^n).
Because of this equation "Km" should be the Hill constant "K" where the Hill coefficient "n" is already included in the calculation of the value.
So the entries in SABIO-RK are looking correct based on the publication.

Best regards,
Ulrike
