Hi everyone!

Sabrina  will be working out at Sabercat Creek site 5 this Sunday, from noon-4pm. If you want to join me, I'd love to have your assistance!

We'll be focusing on freeing many of our native plants from tangles of Himalayan blackberry and thistle that are covering them - including many plants near the cul-de-sac and a few coast live oaks that had gone unnoticed for a while up the slope near the creek entrance. If we get through those, then we might work on the creek banks, too.

Site 5 is at Becado Place. We usually park in the cu-de-sac at the end, if there's enough space.

We need all participants to sign a waiver form! If you'd like to do so ahead of time (minors must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver), please download it here:https://sites.google.com/site/sabercatcreekrestoration/home/waiver-form.

Please bring:  water, gloves, a hat, sunscreen, and (labeled) tools, if you have them, along with a great attitude!

If you have community service forms to be signed, please remember to bring them.

What to wear: Long sleeves (to layer when needed) and long pants are a good idea, for protection from prickly or itch-inducing plants (and ticks). Please wear or bring sturdy shoes or boots that you won’t mind getting muddy. Be aware that there is a lot of Ripgut brome (Bromus diandrus) on the site, so footwear that includes fabric may be less desirable than footwear with a surface that is less permeable to the brome seeds (e.g., leather). There is some poison oak on site 5, although  it should not be too hard to avoid. There is also likely to be some poison hemlock. I will bring rubbing alcohol and Tecnu along incase you come in contact with poison hemlock or oak.

Please RSVP to Sabrina...@gmail.com and Barbara Silva at bsi...@fremont.gov
