40 days and escalate!
You’re invited to a 40-day fast for Gaza, organized by Veterans For Peace. On May 22, we begin our
fasting across the country while demanding:
1) a resumption of humanitarian aid, under UN
authority, to Gaza 2) that the U.S. stop arming Israel NOW!
Join us in our work! We imagine two fasting options: a
centralized fasting location in NYC where fasters will commit to 250
calories a day, in line with the general caloric intake of Gazans under the ongoing
Israeli military blockade, and a dispersed fasting option for folks to
join the work from their local context. This action is open to all
Gaza allies and people of good conscience who want an end to the
genocide in Gaza, veteran or not.
(Want to sponsor as an organization? Email Addie, the FOSNA National Field
Organizer, before May 22.)

Palestine, Settler Colonialism,
and Western Churches Conference
May 28 - 30
Saint Paul University, Ottawa
Canada
At the request of some Canadian
church leaders, representatives of mainline churches met at Saint Paul
University on April 27, 2023, to discuss New Developments in
Israel-Palestine and the Role of the Churches. The main question
addressed by that panel was: What is the role of Canadian churches in
advocacy for Palestine?
|
|
Meeting again
at Saint Paul University from May 28 to 30, the conference aims to
bring together an international group of church and community
representatives, activists, and scholars to learn from and dialogue
with Palestinian leaders about the current situation in Palestine and
to discuss how to attend to the Open
Letter issued by Palestinian Christians to Western
Christians titled “A Call for Repentance.” In accordance with the Call
to Repentance, the role of ingrained colonial ideologies within the
churches must be addressed as to truthfully confront the enduring
legacy of settler colonialism in Palestine, Canada, and other colonial
contexts. |

On Nakba Day, FOSNA Executive Director Jonathan Kuttab spoke at an
event in Washington DC at the National Press Club, held by the Arab
Center of Washington about the Bseiso Family Archives.

Support Our
Students
Rumeysa Ozturk is free! Now free them all!
Hundreds of students are having their visas revoked and at an
alarming rate, they are being taken off the street and sent to ICE
facilities thousands of miles away for exercising their protected
right to freedom of speech. Mahmoud Khalil, a legal permanent
resident, is still not free. He sits in detention writing
to his newborn son Deen, who he has yet to meet.
Demand an end to this madness. Support our students and resist our
country's slip into fascism.
