Hello Jan,

On Monday, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) passed a resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza for the duration of Ramadan — and for the first time since the beginning of the Israeli military’s genocide of Palestinians, the United States abstained rather than vetoing it. While the resolution contains several weaknesses — reflected in its intentionally vague, watered-down language — that a ceasefire resolution was finally achieved is in large part due to the massive pressure being exerted by the Palestine solidarity movement.

It’s a reminder that pressure works and that now is not the time to let up. That’s why we hope you’ll join us at the Colorado State Capitol this Saturday, March 30, Land Day, at 3:00 pm to continue putting pressure on our political leaders and institutions in Colorado. Land Day honors the Palestinian people’s steadfast resistance against the illegal and forced displacement and confiscation of their lands by Israel.

We must keep up the pressure until a permanent ceasefire is a reality and there’s a full end to the siege on Gaza.

Don’t forget to save the date for JVP Denver/Boulder’s 2024 Liberation Seder happening on Sunday, April 21. Join us as we celebrate Passover - the Jewish holiday of liberation - by exploring the connections between Palestinian freedom struggles, the Indigenous American movement for Land Back, and the history of Jewish oppression. This event is a picnic, a sacred ritual, a teach-in, a chance to collectively hold our grief, rage, and hope, and a protest demanding a better world.

RSVP HERE

All are welcome: you don't have to be Jewish to attend. Some of us will be celebrating a lifetime of Seders, while many others will be attending their first one. We'll explain what we're doing as we go, and questions are welcome. This is an all-ages event, and we are encouraging everyone to bring their family and friends! Plan to come with a group and/or join one. Bring a blanket, chair, pillow, canopy, or whatever you need to be comfortable for a few hours outside. Bring plenty of water and some delicious food to eat or share. RSVP here and help spread the word!

In solidarity,

Denver/Boulder JVP
