Hi guys
Installed Sabayon 19.03 KDE and Daily . Installation goes fine
But when I tried to update/upgrade or install a single package equo freeze to unpacking phase and I can't move/tap my touchpad or mouse ...after a while averything freeze

I discovered that an "lspci -n" istance eat 1 thread to 100% load

I've moved /usr/bin/lspci to /usr/bin/lspci.bk and everything went fine.

I tried to update lspci release to latest but nothing changed.

Same result for all Sabayon Gnome/Xfce

Thanks.

Hello,

Same happened to me 3 times on my Sabayon up to date.
I use KDE, sometimes all freezes. I have had those under both, 4.20 and 5.05 kernels.
At some point, something goes wild...
But I have no clue what, I have waited long, but I've reset it after all...

Best Regards,

Maybe I solved (re)selecting python-3.6

eselect python list
Available Python interpreters, in order of preference:
  [1]   python3.6
  [2]   python2.7 (fallback)

# eselect python list
Available Python interpreters, in order of preference:
  [1]   python3.6
  [2]   python2.7 (fallback)

No more freeze during equo unpacking stage

going to test to new fresh install

Possibly, in my case was no explicitly selected any of them and I have an uninstalled 3.5 listed.
This is an old issue I've got, remaining uninstalled python versions in the list all the time.
From my point of view, it's a bug that does not clean these completely.

"Installed Sabayon 19.03 KDE and Daily"

What does this mean? You've installed a Daily KDE image? What was the date it was generated? What repos did it have enabled?
This report is a bit vague. So in the end you state that there is something wrong with eselect python?

The freezes can't me do anything.
So now I can report some extra infos

This release was downloaded form latest official torrent. ( but the problem was found on GNOME and Xfce edition that I tried , downloaded from latest official torrents.)
cat /etc/sabayon-{edition,release}
Sabayon Linux 19.03 amd64 KDE
Sabayon Linux amd64 19.01

equo repo list
* sabayon-weekly
    Sabayon Linux Official Repository

Before to "fix"  chrooting in the system no freeze happened. But  booting the system , freezes happened during "equo install --> unpacking" phase
I was able to start htop before a freeze came back  and an "lspci -n" istance ate 100% 1 cpu thread. and equo unpacking phase freeze

Moving "/usr/sbin/lspci" fixed the problem but lspci could be use from various programs. It can't be implemented.
Runninng "eselect python set ..." at the moment seems to fix this issue.

Now I'm able to update the system or install a single package without any problem.

I will proceed to make a new installation with the same ISO on another disk as soon as possible and  try to reproduce this.

Tnx
