I've been playing with the 2019-02-17 Mate Daily.

The Live USB session was working well, and I installed it to my
computer without any problems.

Once installed on my system, I ran into a couple of minor problems.

(1) The default greeter used by lightdm wouldn't show any supplemental
DE/WM that I installed.

If I manually switched to the lightdm-gtk-greeter, all the
supplemental DE/WM were showing normally.

(2) The 'eselect lightdm set #' command was not working. No errors
were showing, but I couldn't use this command to switch the greeter.
I had to manually configure that change.

(3) The screen lock in Mate wouldn't take my password to unlock the
session. I could not find any errors, it just wouldn't accept the
same password I used to log in.

All-in-all, these seem like a few minor issues. Everything seemed to
be working well otherwise. But I wanted to pass them along anyways.

This is odd, as I don't have issues with switching DEs between KDE or Gnome. its the little circle in the login box. its not like the old greeter that had it in the top right corner.
As for lockscreen passwords, can you please reinstall sys-libs/pam-1.3.0-r2 and tell me if that fixes the lockscreen issue. We need to figure out what keeps happening to this package after install. It also breaks KDE lockscreen.

Hi, for unlocking, could it be a similar cause to this: https://bugs.sabayon.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5683?

Best Regards,

Yep, this is all related to sys-libs/pam package. This affects Xscreensaver on XFCE too. I have to reinstall sys-libs/pam to fix screensaver. Anyone one have an idea as to why this is happening. what is the install process doing to break sys-libs/pam perms?

I'm still not seeing this. But if everyone else says "it works for
me", there may be some local issue.

As suggested, re-installing sys-libs/pam fixed this issue.
