To all the members,
For your information about the CTRE purpose is to upgrade your
knowledge, understanding and skill of guiding, this are the implement
from the Minister of Tourim Malaysia to benefit you as mentioned.
We're preparing our own Senior Guides as most of our CTRE speakers. We
EXCO wish that most of our members may able to spare your time attend
this CTRE for good purpose, but not only for renewing your license
purpose. This is a good benefit to you all.
And besides that, it's also to having a good relationship or
fellowship to one another by this CTRE program. And please when
attending the CTRE do not compare or criticise, for this act will
condemn yourself and the STGA, but take it as for your own good of
knowledgement. We have received a lot of good feedback lately from the
CTRE attendance, and we do received some green badge members are
attending the CTRE, too. We wish all of you may encourage one another
to attend the CTRE. Espeacially the green badge members, we are most
welcome all of you to take the CTRE. For this not only for Yellow and
Blue badge, it's also for green and nature badge.
And now, we EXCO agreed to open this CTRE to the public, instead of
the members only. We hoping this intention may able us the STGA to
educate the public about our Tourist Guides' duties, knowledge,
attitude and responsibilities to the tourists and our country.
Hoping you all may success in guiding and in good health.
May God bless you all always.

There is an Orientation Night for new members on 14 May 7:30pm at
Datin Faridah's B&B.
I would encourage all new members to attend. You'll get to know more
about the association, Code of Ethics and also tips on your guiding.
It is actually compulsory for all new members to attend. If you are
found breaking any rules and regulation of the association and MOT
requirement in the future, the excuse that "I DO NOT KNOW" or "STGA
DID NOT TELL ME" do not work at all. Well, as a guide, you should
know, so, please attend to avoid any future misunderstanding.

For those of you who have received any notification, please do

Re: Myanmar & China Relief Fund

Just within the month of May, we have all been shaken up by one
disaster after another. Yet as FHI, we firmly believe in the
sovereignty of God that He is in control of everything. We look up to
God in prayers and hear His direction for relief & development in
these two countries.

2 Corinthians 1: "8…We were under great pressure, far beyond our
ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, in our
hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might
not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has
delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him
we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11as you
help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our[a] behalf
for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

The urgency for funds is the outcry from the contacts that we have
made in Myanmar & China. No doubt you will have seen from the mass
media the trauma of death & suffering experienced so far but we are
only seeing the tip of the iceberg.

I am writing to you to seek God to be openhanded (Deut 15).
"11There will always be poor people in the land. Therefore I command
you to be openhanded toward your brothers and toward the poor and
needy in your land."

Let us give generously as an individual Member or through FHI
Federation or VOCF as soon as possible. Just this morning, our
brother Brian Cheng from FHHK and myself received an urgent phone call
from our China contact requesting speedy remittance of relief funds
due to the urgency of the situation. This is the complex feeling in
the frontline of the relief situation where you see death & suffering
face to face.

It will take some time for us to raise funds. Can I suggest that as an
immediate measure, we remit from our emergency fund a God appointed
amount that could be reimbursed by your fundraising. Any amount above
that can be remitted later.

We have designed a poster for your fundraising boxes to raise funds.
Among some of our Members, we have coin boxes placed in restaurants,
etc. I would like to suggest from now till end of June 2008 that the
funds be set aside for Myanmar & China Relief. Others, this is a
critical time for FHI to be seen to do what is right before others and
in God's eyes. Let us do whatever is needed and godly quickly!

You may remit to any one of the following. Kindly inform the Account
Holder by email with a cc copy to the Secretariat so that we can give
a total picture of funds raised through the Federation. Please also
clearly specify where your funds are designated for.

"INTRODUCTION TO INDONESIA,BAHASA INDONESIA AND CULTURE" Course

Have been very disappointed with the Bahasa Malaysia Proficient
Speaking Guides! No one under this category has registered for the
course! See...........both STB and STGA have tried to assist them to
improve their knowledge but the response is absolutely disappointing.

This course is now opened for all guides to register. At the moment,
we already have about 10 participants waiting for the registration to
be opened. So.......guides, start registering now to avoid
disappointment and to grab the opportunity provided to improve your
knowledge and also to get the 3CTREs avalibale for the course.

SMS me Grace @ 012 8028823 with your full name , TG No. and your h/p
no. please(some guides prefer not to identify themselves when they
make any calls!)
