Job Description:
An appointment with the U.S. Attorney's Office offers unique and challenging experiences for the highly motivated attorney. Serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney (AUSA) in this TERM position in the office's Civil Division, you will be part of a dedicated team helping to enforce and defend the civil interests of the United States, its agencies and employees while also advancing the interests of the courts and the Department of Justice on behalf of victims of crime through the collection of criminal fines and restitution orders. These cases are fast paced, time consuming, varied and intellectually challenging. They will most frequently arise in bankruptcy proceedings, the federal district court, or in state courts, on short notice and will require quick and timely responses. As presently constituted, the term expires on September 30, 2016. Whether the term may be extended or converted to a permanent AUSA position is presently unknown.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a J.D. Degree, be an active member of the bar (any U.S. jurisdiction), be admitted to the bar of any U.S. District Curt and have at least three (3) years post - J.D. legal or other relevant experience. United States citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Excellent writing, speaking and analytical skills; strong work ethic, character, dedication and interest in public service; interest in handling a wide variety of challenging cases on behalf of the United States of America; and the ability to work well both independently and on teams with others on complex cases are highly desired. Background in and understanding of the practice of bankruptcy law.
Salary: Assistant United States Attorney's pay is administratively determined base, in part, on the number of years of professional attorney experience. The range of basic pay is $45,581 to $132,849, plus locality pay where authorized.
Travel: There will be occasional travel within and outside the District.
