What is PMRD Fellowship?

Prime Minister's Rural Development Fellowship is a short-term work opportunity for young women and men who already possess some level of academic or professional expertise that will serve the district administration in improving programme delivery and interface with the marginalized section of the population aiming to reduce the developmental and governance deficit. Fellows shall be given opportunities for gaining professional experience and structured learning in rural development and poverty reduction with emphasis on developing analytical and problem solving capabilities.

The duration of Fellowship under the PMRDF shall be for a total period of two years. On successful completion of Fellowship, a PMRD Fellow is required to spend at least one year in public service as a paid full-time employee of the State Rural Livelihood Mission (SRLM) in the State she/he is assigned to.

Remuneration and other benefits

Fellows get a consolidated stipend of INR 50,000 per month during the orientation period, INR 75,000 per month during the first year and a 10 percent increment during the second year as well as during the third year of Fellowship, subject to the Fellow’s satisfactory performance. They are provided office and transport facilities by the district administration. Fellows are entitled to travel reimbursements for official work and a specified amount of leave for certain reasons. Fellows are not employees of the Government and they receive a stipend during the entire duration of their Fellowship as compensation. Upon successful completion, they are awarded a Fellowship Certificate. After a period of three years, they will get a masters degree in rural development practice from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Dec 15, 2013: AICAT - All India Competency Assessment Test (Online)

Jan 5-6, 2014: Written Test + Personal Interviews

P.S.  I missed it by few months because of age eligibility.. BTW I started applying for CSR and other related job, if you find any such opportunity, please do share with me...salary/location not a criteria for me for this profile...:)
