Hi everyone,
Matt Harris and I will be offering a short (3.5 h) workshop to introduce archaeologists to R at the upcoming SAA meeting. This follows on our successful 4h workshop at the 2017 SAA.
We plan to offer this in the name of the Open Science Interest Group, so we'd be grateful for any suggestions the group has into topics that the workshop should introduce.
We also have space for one more helper, so if anyone is interested to help, please send me an email. If you'd like to do something similar for 2019, let me know so we can start planning now, I think there's demand for more than one of these kinds of workshops.
Of course we can't even approximate any kind of proper treatment of most of the topics we've listed. Our goal is to familiarize people with how they can get started doing these things in R, then they have to equip themselves later with the information they need to use it properly with their research.
We will be using R Markdown and knitr from the start of the workshop, so reproducibility will be a key theme.
thanks!
Ben
