Hi everyone,

Thanks to those who sent feedback on the workshop schedule. We're now ready to take registrations, so could you please circulate this invitation to archaeologists and students that might be interested in this workshop? Here's the short description:

The SAA Open Science Interest Group is hosting a half-day workshop on 'Archaeological Data Science Using R' , to be held at the Smithsonian Institution during the 2018 SAA meeting. The workshop instructors are from the University of Washington, Harvard University, and AECOM. This is a workshop for novices, and we especially welcome archaeologists with no previous experience with R or programming. This workshop is hands-on and will teach you basic concepts, skills, and modern, free tools for working more effectively with archaeological data (you can bring your own!). just a quick note that will be of direct interest only for those in Italy (or Europe, why not?), but perhaps relevant for the SIG: we have a confirmed slot for a workshop on data science and reproducibility in archaeology at the annual ArcheoFOSS meeting (this year in the larger FOSS4G Italian event).
