Hi all,

This month we're going to change the format completely and look at
something a little more formal (but not too formal). Microsoft have
kindly offered us one of their auditoriums and possibly drinks and
some food. If they can't help with the latter jh-01 will sort it.

Helga has offered to present on her process and the outcomes of some
amazing mobile research she has conducted at MTN. I will present on
conducting user interviews for needs gathering on a shoe-string budget
which will tie into using a basic user-types profiling tool. We may
also provide a wee-interactive workshops (30 mins) on doing this with
a volunteer. It should be fun.

If anyone else would like to present or share then please submit your
ideas...

I'm thinking of doing this the week after next - Wednesday the 27th of
August - at Microsoft in Bryanston.

Who's in?

Hi there,

Plans for next weeks meet up (Wednesday the 27th) have evolved
somewhat. Microsoft will be hosting the event in one of their
auditoriums and providing food and drinks (thanks a million to
Katherine and Tina for fixing this).

There will be two events:
1. I'll be presenting on gathering customer insights and needs and how
you can do this on a low budget to great effect. I'll also be showing
how this can translate directly into your design and the benefits of
this.
2. We'll be having a panel discussion on the topic of 'UX in
developing contexts' - where UX is at, what its purpose and role is,
how to increase uptake and what the future could look like. For this
panel we'll have a representative from one larger enterprise
consultancy, a design firm and a local business. This should provide a
really interesting spread of perspectives.

We'll meet at 6.00, start at 6.30, have our first presentation until
7.00 then break for food, drinks and networking. Then we'll have the
panel discussion, questions, more drinking and chatting.

It sounds formal but it'll remain informal, fun and chatty.

There will also be some representation from the media - the event will
be covered by The Times and we may even get a story in print (thanks
to Vlad for this).

Guys, please do come along and please spread the word on your blogs
and through your network...the more the merrier (just let us know if
you're coming so we can get a sense of numbers).

Coolio,

j

Sadly, I won't be able to make it anymore - have been invited by Carte
Blanche to see Lord of the Dance in honour of Carte Blanche's 20th
anniversary.

I look forward to any blog posts and/or videos.
