I am considering holding a talk in
Johannesburg,
Durban and
Cape Town during
August 2012 and seeking interested attendees.
I lived in South Africa for much of my young life. When I returned to the UK, UX was still an infant and I'm keen to see how she is fairing as a teenager. In doing so, I would like to offer what I have learnt about the UK UX scene. I currently consult for O2, the UK's largest mobile network. I have similarly consulted to B&Q, the UK's largest home improvement retailer and their sister company Screwfix Direct; Orange, another mobile network; Friends Provident (now Friends Life) a FTSE 100 Financial Service; and various other multi-national blue-chip clients.
As an outline, I would like to share:
- User Experience in Corporate Britain
- Process and adoption of User Experience
- Future opportunities in User Experience
In doing so, I will offer insight in to how my current and past employers have adapted to incorporate User Experience; The challenges along the way; And provide anecdotes of various projects that I have managed. I would hope that anyone who attended the talk would be able to consider the similarities and/or differences between cultures. As well as learn from the challenges and opportunities my teams have faced over my years in the United Kingdom.
If this is of interest to you, please do get in contact.
Kind regards,
Matt Jones
