Has anyone bought conference proceedings? Are they worthwhile?

Please elaborate on what you mean. What is "conference proceedings"?

It's basically material from a conference, such as presentations,
papers, sometimes audio files. It's packaged together so that you can
buy it if you were not at the conference. They are sometimes quite
reasonable, about the price of a reference book, and sometimes quite
pricey.
