LITTLE RINGED PLOVER – a single bird has just been found and videoed at Mana Sands in Mana Pools National Park at -15.770556, 29.249444. This is only the 4^th ever record for Southern Africa – reported by Gary Douglas.

GOLDEN PIPIT – these things seem to be dripping off the trees in the Lowveld at the moment…!!! A single bird has been found this morning on the H1-8 road (main tar road between Punda Maria and Pafuri) in the Kruger National Park just north of the turn-off to the S59 road, near the power lines. I don’t have an exact location for it, and signal is very bad up there, so I can’t seem to get it at the moment either – reported by Yolande van der Merwe.

GOLDEN PIPIT – a bird has just been found and photographed along the S114 in the Kruger National Park at -25.331, 31.587. This is our 39^th record for Southern Africa, and the 6^th one in the Lowveld in the last 8 weeks!! – reported by Norma Crampton.

WHITE-THROATED BEE-EATER – a single bird was seen and photographed at Selati Game Reserve earlier today. I don’t have an exact pin yet, but have asked for it – reported by Alan Webster.

 

GOLDEN PIPIT – yet another bird found and videoed earlier today on the flats just before Ntandanyati Bird Hide off the S28 in the Kruger National Park at -25.207, 31.957 – reported by Matthew Weaver.

AFRICAN RED-RUMPED SWALLOW: a single bird was seen associating with Lesser Striped Swallows at Seldomseen in the Eastern highlands, Zimbabwe, on 10 December. The photos were sent to me this afternoon. The bird was seen at the following location: -19.1077778, 32.7474722.
I don’t have any information about whether the bird has been seen subsequently. If I hear anything further I’ll send out an update.
The bird was found by Jimmy Kirby and Darryl Dell.

NORTHERN WHEATEAR: a bird which appears to be a Northern Wheatear was seen and photographed today at approximately 10:00, at Tihongonyeni waterhole in Kruger NP (-23.438, 31.440). In the interests of potential twitchers I’m sending this notice out, but please note that I will get further opinions on the bird to exclude other unusual Wheatears.

DUNLIN: I’ve been sent back-of-camera shots of a bird which appears to be a Dunlin, seen yesterday evening and again this morning at 08:00, at St Lucia Estuary, KZN, at -28.3888280, 32.4232440.

WHINCHAT: a male bird was photographed yesterday afternoon at 15:20, near Amersfoort, with the following description: “it was sitting on a fence about 5km on the Amersfoort Rd near two small mounds with a colony of meercats”. I don’t have specific coordinates for the bird yet.

WHITE WAGTAIL -  a single bird has just been found and photographed in the Mahango section of Bwabwata National Park (Namibia) at -18.173, 21.705. This is only the 3^rd record for Southern Africa and the first for Namibia – reported by Errol de Beer.

HUDSONIAN GODWIT – a single bird was reported on the Seekoei River estuary between Paradise Beach and Aston Bay (Eastern Cape) yesterday and was seen again and photographed there this morning at this pin - https://maps.app.goo.gl/phNyGnX8qrJxAssS9. This is only the 10^th record for Southern Africa – originally found by Ron Searle and reported again this morning by Hugh Retief.
