Good evening,

A short and sweet account, but it does appear that the Northerners got the hint!

GAUTENG
The Boons road area appears to have produced a few provincial specialities, with RUFOUS-EARED WARBLER and LARK-LIKE BUNTING being recorded from private property, both great birds for the province, whilst a pair of AFRICAN HAWK EAGLE (-26.169 27.434) and a single WHITE-BACKED VULTURE (-26.161 27.391) were also reported from the general area.  A SICKLE-WINGED CHAT was reported from the Devon Grasslands this morning at -26.461 28.700. a winter visitor to the area, so one worth looking for in the coming weeks.

LIMPOPO
An unconfirmed record (no images) of a EUROPEAN TURTLE DOVE came through from Mapunguwbe National Park (-22.269 29.167) on 12th May. I'm just putting out this information on the off chance anyone birding in the area can try to confirm this.

WESTERN CAPE
It appears that the WHINCHAT as Strandfontein Sewage Works has possibly moved off, as no reports came through today from the numerous birders who were searching for it. A single YELLOW-BILLED STORK was reported on a private farm in Rheendaal, whilst a BLACK-WINGED PRATINCOLE was reported yesterday afternoon near Moorressburg at -33.056, 18.606. Several ROSEATE TERNS were reported from the camping grounds in Agulhas and a BLACK HERON was located at the hide in Zandvlei Bird Sanctuary today at -34.084 18.468. An AFRICAN JACANA was also visible from Boschendal Cresent on the Dreyersdal Wetland. A single WHITE-FRONTED BEE-EATER was photographed in the Bontebok National Park on Monday.

That's all I've managed to glean for this one, hopefully, things pick up on the weekend.

Kind regards,
