Happy 17th birthday SARBN!!!
I cannot believe that, 17 years later, I am still doing this…J What started out as a very small group of subscribers with just a handful of messages has grown over the years. Now we have almost 6200 subscribers and over 4150 emails have been sent out on this group!!!
A few quick words of thanks … firstly, to those of you that have stepped in to assist with the running of SARBN when I have been away over the years, a big thank you for your help in keeping the news flowing in my absences. Your assistance is always hugely appreciated, both by myself and by all of the subscribers.
Then, also to all of the subscribers who have continued to support SARBN over the years and religiously shared their news and updates with me and sent me their photos to include in the reports, etc., a massive thank you to all of you. Without all of your input, SARBN would not be worth much and you and your reports are the reason that it has continued to grow from strength to strength.
Lastly, and most importantly, thanks to my better half, Margaret (or Mags as many of you will know her). Without a doubt, she is the one that has offered THE most support in all of this! So much of her personal time with me is given up to the Southern African birding community for me to operate SARBN or to answer the hundreds of messages/queries that I get sent! Without her support, none of this would be possible at all!
That’s it for now… hopefully still plenty of years of fantastic rarities to report on – onwards and upwards…J
Enjoy the attached little “birthday card” celebrating some of the rarities so far this year. And please also feel free to share this with all of your birding friends and encourage them to join the group at https://groups.google.com/g/sa-rarebirdnews as well.
Kind regards
Trevor
