LESSER NODDY: a bird was seen and photographed off Cape Vidal this morning, at 6:30am at -28.152, 32.565. See photo attached.

RED-THROATED PIPIT: a bird has been seen and photographed at Gaborone Dam this afternoon, at this location: -24.699, 25.902. Access is via the sailing club entrance. See photo attached.

BROAD-BILLED SANDPIPER: seen and photographed within the last few minutes at Kei Mouth, over the river (requiring ferry trip), at coordinates -32.672, 28.381. Apparently the second record for the Eastern Cape.

FRANKLIN’S GULL – a single bird has just been found and photographed in the Tern roost on Pan P2 at Strandfontein Sewage Works. This is not the same individual that was seen there a few days ago which was in full breeding plumage, this is a bird in non-breeding (winter) plumage – reported by Garret Skead.

COLLARED FLYCATCHER – a single bird was found and photographed at Island Camp at Limpokwena Nature Reserve near Alldays (Limpopo) at -22.448382, 28.879915 earlier today. It is on private property but day trips have been arranged with management of the reserve at R500, 10 spots available per trip. Or you can arrange to stay over at the Island Camp at R500 p/p. It is a self-catering camp with all the necessary facilities. Please contact Limpokwena Nature Reserve at 0785648123 to arrange access – reported by John Davies.

GREAT FRIGATEBIRD – an adult male bird has just been seen and photographed south of Bloemfontein and north of Reddersburg (Free State) at -29.52270, 26.30964 – reported by Johan van Niekerk.

LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL – a single bird has just been found and photographed at Leeupan near Leandra (Mpumalanga) at -26.553, 28.998. I’m told that where it was seen from is private property, but I assume that there are areas around the pan that are accessible to the public as birders have seen this species at this site before – reported by Duncan McKenzie.
