Hi all SARBN subscribers,
I just wanted to remind all of you again about the Jackpot Birding Raffle currently being run by BirdLife South Africa. This year, the prize is a birding trip for 2 people (incl return flights from Johannesburg) to the Eastern Andes of Ecuador, a simply incredible birding destination with a very long list of iconic species available there.
Tickets are R650 each and there were only 1000 tickets available to start with (only much fewer left now!) so, as always, one stands a fairly decent chance of actually winning because of the low number of tickets. This raffle closes at midday on Friday, 17 October 2025 or sooner, if all the tickets have already been sold before that date, so you don’t have a lot of time left to still get yourself in the running. If you’re keen to get yourself a ticket(s), head on over to https://www.birdlife.org.za/jackpot-birding-2025/ for further details and to purchase your tickets in the raffle.
I could wax on and on about what an incredible destination it is but, instead of doing that, I am just going to include a few of my own photos of some of the incredible species I saw there recently on my own trip to this area. Hopefully, that will get many of you excited and jumping to get yourself a ticket to be in the running for this incredible prize!

I could share many, many more photos but, hopefully, that small selection is enough to whet the appetite…J
Please support this very worthy cause and help BirdLife South Africa to raise much-needed funds for their important conservation work. Let’s hope that the SARBN community will “clean out” the rest of the remaining raffle tickets today still…J
Thanks for your support of this initiative.
Kind regards
Trevor
