I have been out at sea today, hence the delay in getting some of this news out…

SABINE’S SPINETAIL – what appears to be this species from the back of camera shots received was seen this morning flying around the observation tower in Okakeujo camp in Etosha National Park (Namibia). This would be a new species for Southern Africa – reported by Dayne Braine.

Other notable records included:

MADAGASCAR CUCKOO – a single bird found and videoed (while calling) earlier today in Zinave National Park (Mozambique) at -21.747, 33.397 – reported by Darren Pietersen.

NORTHERN CARMINE BEE-EATER - still in the Southern Carmine Bee-eater colony just upstream of Zambezi Mubala Lodge (Namibia) at -17.535, 24.542 – reported independently by Neal Cooper and Charles Britz.

BAIRD’S SANDPIPER – still at Macassar Sewage Works (Western Cape) earlier today – reported by Daniel Engelbrecht.

Kind regards

Trevor
